Dsm 5- asperger"s and autism were separate now combined into one: Around 80% of cases occur in boys. Extremely unresponsive to others, uncommunicative, repetitive, and rigid. May have intense passion/interest in certain topic. As many as 90% of children with the disorder remain significantly disabled into adulthood. Even though on the lower side of the spectrum have problems with social interactions and communications. Echolalia- echoing of phrases spoken by others. Born with it or acquired at a young age. Something is impairing their both their- intelligence and adaptive abilities. Difficulty in communication, home living, self-direction, work, or safety. Down syndrome: extra 3rd chromosome in pair 21.
