In a stripped down format: strip everything away to make tough decisions (trust, distrust; help, not help) Recreate core dramas we and our ancestors face. Is rationality and self-interest (in the narrow sense of the models) optimal: microeconomics used rational choice models, optimizing our interests, fails to show how we actually make decisions. Behave irrationally cooperatively which actually helps us optimize. Key examples of experimental games: prisoner"s dilemma game: two players, each of whom must make a choice of behavior. Know the options faced by the other player (know all the information) Must make a choice of uncertainty: measures trust and assumptions, (look at powerpoints for graphs slides 5-15) Trust, helping, fairness- three key elements of human cooperation: different experimental games allow us to shine a spotlight on human tendencies towards cooperation, prisoners dilemma game, trust game, dictator game, ultimatum game.
