PHIL 160 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Fetus

34 views2 pages

Document Summary

According to marquis, the primary wrong-making feature of killing, is the loss to the victim of the value of its future (marquis, 1989: 31). What he means by this is every person has a set of experiences, projects, and activities. Every person is exposed to these experiences that they have in their lives. They have projects that they need to start or finish, and activities to attend (marquis, 1989: 31). By killing a fetus or having an abortion you are not only ending a life, but ending that life"s future. That fetus will never have experiences, projects, or activities. Who knows that fetus could have been the future president of the united states or could have found the cure for cancer. But by ending it"s life we may never know. For example it is wrong to kill me or to kill you molly.
