Twin studies: same weight gain/loss + visceral fat gain/loss, conclusion: the same genes, assuming everything else is the same, the impact on weight/fat mass will be similar. Adoptive vs biological bmi: bmi highly related to biological parents, conclusion: family environmental alone may not have an effect.
