Document Summary

The cells within an organism"s body divide and develop at diferent rates. There are certain checkpoints where they check if there are enough nutrients to go forward in cell replicaion. Apoptosis- when it kills of a cell if it is nutrient deicient. When cancer spreads to other parts of the body, this is known as metastasis. A benign tumor remains at its original site. Diet is a very big factor regarding environmental causes of cancer. Cancer needs blood vessels to fuel itself so if you were to starve yourself, you could kill of the cancer cells. Fish sourced from the paciic ocean has higher concentraions of radiaion that originate from. Therefore, its strange because these mutaions can make cells keep growing even though there"s no signal telling it to grow; its acing on its own. Ras if mutated in about 30% of all human cancers. A proto-oncogene is a gene that has a possibility to become an oncogene.
