Document Summary

These two versions of the same gene are called alleles. Alleles are versions of the same gene sometimes they both work fine but differently, sometimes one doesn"t work sometimes neither works. What makes a gene dominant: the dominant trait masks the presence of other alleles. Incomplete dominance: heterozygotes have a blend of the recessive and the dominant trait, masking does not occur. The likelihood of crossing over comes from how far apart genes are. The frequency of recombination (crossing over) tells you how far apart the genes are. 100% means there will always be crossing over between these two genes called recombination. If the chiasma occurs between two genes a new allele could in Unlinked genes are either far apart on the chromosomes or chromosomes. Measuring from one a 64 % chance that there will be crossing over between and male sterile. Doing planned crosses (not in humans), one can begin to figure out where genes are located on chromosomes.
