Document Summary

Bio151 lecture 8 when cells go wild. M-cdk/cyclin regulates entry into m-phase another checkpoint. Cell should be bigger, dna should be replicated, no dna damage. One of m cdk/cyclin"s jobs is getting the dna in the right shape to divide. M-cdk/cyclin phosphorylates condensin: condensin helps to condense the chromosomes, cohesin holds the chromatids together, cohesin and condensin turn the spaghetti monster dna into those pretty. In m-phase the cells go through prophase prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase: now we"re going to move on to the mechanics for the division itself. Leads to tension from both sides cell can enter anaphase. Kinetochore: all the non blue bits are made of proteins. The microtubules pull both directions towards the centrosomes. Spindle assembly checkpoint (sac: before cells can move to anaphase and finally exit mitosis, the cell has to ensure that the chromosomes are lined up.
