Transcription factor and rna polymerase bind to promoter. Transcription factor binds to the promoter is a sequence specific way. Nucleotide structure 3 chemical groups: 1. 4 base pairs: adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine/uracil. Uracil is used in rna, whereas thymine is used in dna. Dna information is stored in the sequence of the nitrogenous bases. These are opposite but complementary base pair interactions. Rna and dna are both formed from nucleotides, however the nucleotide structures are not identical: to keep track of carbons, scientists name the different carbons by numbering them.
