Drive internal tension triggered by need. Fall out of your homeostasis thing so you fall into a biological need so your need gives rise to drive, drive is reduced and need is satisfied and balance is restored. Drive (push) pushed to act from the inside. Incentive (pull) you are pulled toward an action, external things are giving you those incentives, making you want to act in a way to receive those rewards. Whatever action you"re taking will result in a positive outcome. You will still act but you"re acting in order to avoid a negative outcome. Extrinsic desire to behave for external incentive. Go to work just to get paid. Examples of extrinsic instances: praise, money, grades. Intrinsic desire to behave for internal incentive. Swims because she actually loves to swim.
