Often we are standing on the line between success and failure do not know it we may be almost winning (or losing) but cannot see it. The prospector may be standing on top of a potential gold mine and not know it. Later if we fail, we will find out how close we came to succeeding and realize that right up to the last minute we could have done so, that we barely lost what we could have won. Some hard criteria, but none paints the whole picture. The honest criticism we may get from equals is degraded into false testimony by differences in social status that develop as the years go by. Nobel laureates say that after that have won the prize they no longer have access to candid evaluation . We may rise to a state of complete isolation from feedback and commute to work in the solitude of our own limousine .
