North had 2 religious centers in dan and bethel. On the borders of their territory (north and south) South is isolated with their geography, more separatist. Focused internally, so they are now economically prosperous. City of megiddo is a central military city. Draws them into the international politics of the entire middle east with trade and travel. Tells the military dominance of the kingdom of israel.
