Geographical significance of region comes out when you put region in context of. Mideast i/p"s diverse features augmented by geography of mideast as a whole. Rich, strong, powerful, cultural hubs: the mediterranean. Mesopotamia = cradle of civilization b/c of water. Path from egypt to mesopotamia = fertile crescent = imaginary line which developed history of world middle of crescent = i/p = bottleneck (must cross to get from a to b) Middle sea b/c roman empire centered upon it.
