Contemporary black feminism is the outgrowth of countless generations of personal sacrifice, militancy, and work by our mothers and sisters (p. Black women who do not identify themselves as feminist have all experienced sexual oppression as a constant factor in day-to-day existence. Uses the example of when being told to be quiet; (1) to seem ladylike and (2) to make us less objectionable to white people. We realize that the only people who care enough about us to work consistently four our liberation are us .
