Definition: comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and research leading to social action (lewin, 1946: 35) Design a plan of action (based on research literature and practical experiences, community members ideas, etc. ) Definition: systematic and intentional inquiry carried out by teachers (cochran-smith & lyle, 1993, p. 7) that leads to deeper knowledge of teaching and learning. Classroom/school studies: study one"s own practice and share understandings with colleagues. Journal studies: illuminate one"s practice, examine and reconstruct understandings, clarify questions, and seek answers. Conceptual essays: explore big issues or answer broad question and reach a wider audience.
