"mindfulness is a form of attention or meditation training, based on buddhist tradition and western knowledge of psychology, in which awareness of the present moment and non-judgmental observation is increased, whereas automatic responding is reduced. " After 8 weeks: attention improved; engaged in fewer behavioral problems. By 16: results have warned off - stopped working. Boys are 5xs more likely to have asd. Until 1970"s: most public schools refused/inadequately served students w/disabilities. 1975 - the education for all handicapped children act. 2004 - individuals with disabilities education improvement act (idea)
