Health is an ultimate good, but more complicated than that. Why this version of health? -> what will be pushed. Health has been thought of as (blaxter 2010) More complicated than just the medical model. Absence of illness -> but it"s not. Lack of health is a threat to society, economic productive. Iadls -> individual activities of daily living. State of being (climate) v temporary status (temperature) By institution, they don"t mean mental hospital. They mean a set of ideas and practices that organiza people, Mono genetics = ogod one gene, one disease. How assumptions about women influence how women"s health is considered. Four doctrines still present in modern biomedicine. Health determined by multiple factors, factors influence each other. The social model: locating biological process with social context. Not about a medical/mechanical model: body not machine. Not reductionist: health not about 1 body system. Health capital: 1 way to measure health. Exploring what the health is, what it could be.
