Pure substance- contains only one type of matter. Heterogenous mixture- the individual substances in the mixture can be detected. Homogenous mixture- the individual substances in the mixture cannot be detected. Identify and name the first 20 elements in the periodic table. The number above each symbol is called its atomic number. Subscript indicates the ratio of the atoms of the elements in a compound.
