Erroneously continuing representation is costly; if conflict arises during course of representation, must deal with it promptly when arises; may mean you have to withdraw or get client"s consent (all of the effected clients) So if you don"t know how to properly find conflicts of interest it will cost you money and business. Find out about conflict midway through the representation: deal with it immediately. 1: may have to get out of the representation immediately. Touchstones: conflict issue analysis x: quality of representation, confidentiality, quality of relationship. Harm also to the profession and the justice system: undermine confidences of the system-public distrust of the system.
