Sometimes food is left in fields to prevent it affecting the market cost (too expensive to harvest if prices are low: all fruits and vegetables are graded based on their visual appearance and discarded if (cid:374)ot (cid:862)perfect(cid:863) Some alternatives to our industrialized food system: organic. Increased cost: no documented health benefits, unclear environmental benefits, possibly more waste, becoming more industrialized. Fresher and possibly more nutritious: often produced with fewer chemicals, restricted access, unclear environmental benefits, grass or pasture raised animals. Less waste: grass fed is usually leaner, requires more space, possibly lower risk of contamination.
