It exists at the foundation of the nation"s identity. Race in america has been formed around slavery. America likes to define itself as a nation of immigrants. America is comprised of people from all over the world who came to this country in search of a better life. Immigrant does not apply to: native americans and african americans. In a nation that celebrates itself as a nation of immigrants, it should celebrate immigrants. But some immigrants are demonized and represented as threats. Immigration is now seen as a threat when it applies to certain people. Barack obama did not have the majority white vote. There are enough other groups of people in our society to elect the nation"s first african. Imagine that every white male was reduced to the stereotype of a domestic terrorist. Mass killings that happen on a daily basis often involved the same people.
