Prison violence and creating weapons with new materials is a huge issue. Prison violence exists because: prison or gang hierarchy, deterrent against being victimized, enhances self-image, sexual relief in the cases of rape, means of acquiring goods and materials (robbery) Deprivation model- inmate aggression comes from being deprived of things people not in prison take for granted. Relative deprivation model- inmate aggression is caused when freedoms and services that the inmate has come to accept as normal are decreased or eliminated.
