Civil war-some collaborated with the germans during wwii while others fought them. When the germans occupied greece they divided it into three zone, give northern part to bulgaria and another area to italy. Greece had a military dictatorship and monarchy pre wwii. The british army wanted to help anyone willing to fight the germans, british evacuated greece mainland. The british caused many casualties for german paratroopers when they attacked the british on crete. The british liberate athens, civil war breaks out in greece over those who want the restoration of monarchy and those that oppose it. 1824-we will no longer tolerate the presence of european totalitarianism in the western hemisphere. This only worked because other european countries would back them up, the us did not have much of an army at this point. This mostly affected the spanish in south america. Basically every president will have a doctrine after this.
