Large number of men had had some homosexual experience or feelings. Social constructionist perspective: belief that human sexual identities are entirely socially constructed: roles in sex are taken into consideration in certain cultures. Integrative perspective: belief that human sexual identities are determined by both social and biological factors. Advocates of this perspective point to many kinds of evidence that sexual identities are socially created: they note the unclear boundaries of the two-gender, heterosexually dominant model. Genetic studies provide evidence of links between specific genes and sexual orientation. Some studies of twins link sexual orientation to genetics. Points of agreement and disagreement: sociologists agree that the type of society a person lives in influences such characteristics as whether individuals become exclusively heterosexual or gay, main disagreement is whether society completely determines sexual identities.
