Teens get stressed out by school (shocker: homework, grades, friends, familial relations, loss of sleep in 1/3, makes you sad and depressed, you can skip meals or overeat. Stress= physical, emotional, cognitive and behavioral response to events that are threatening or challenging: purely cognitive, how you perceive things rumination. Except if something is like chasing you, then its not because. Stressor= event or person that causes stress of what you perceive: toxic relationships. Types of stress: distress= bad, unpleasant/undesirable emoitn, eustress= good motivating stress. Some people thrive on it, it can be in response to something good. If no then you freak out and stress out and havoc is wreaked. Catastrophe=unpredictable, large scale event that causes an intense feeling of threat and a tremendous need to adapt or adjust: ex= living in a war torn country, being a refugee, natural disasters, Hurricane patricia: ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder)= nightmares, flashbacks, insomnia, anxiety, hyper vigilant; is long term.
