Outline: students should acquire from this course a solid understanding of the principal issues in contemporary philosophical aesthetics and philosophy of art and how these issues pertain to issues across the individual arts. Section assignments: there are a total of 10 topic sections. At the end of each section, an assignment will become available on blackboard. Each section"s assignment will consist of a paper-prompt dealing with issues from the screening and readings covered for that section. To complete the assignment for a section, the student must write a 300-400 word critical response to the provided prompt and submit that paper via blackboard prior to 9:00am on the designated due date. Each section-assignment will receive a score of 0-10pts. Students who satisfactorily complete a task will be awarded one point toward their final course total.
