Myofilaments sarcomere myofibril muscle fiber (myocyte) fascicle muscle: a motor unit= all the muscle fibers excited by one motor neuron, muscle cell. I band- non overlapping region of thin filament. H band- non overlapping region of thick filament. A band- the entire span of thick filament: including the overlapping region. M line- to which thick filaments are attached. Z line- to which thin filaments are attached. Titin- goes from m line to z line: helps to stabilize thick filament. Nebulin- helps align actin filament: attached to z disk, runs along thin filament. Alpha actinin- runs along the z line. Thin filament: actin= the backbone of it. Myosin binding site: tropomyosin= covers myosin binding site, troponin= attached to tropomyosin. Tnc- binds to ca2: basically, ca binds to troponin conformational change troponin moves - tropomyosin moves myosin binding site is available. Thick filament: myosin light and heavy chains. Vary according to muscle class: heavy chain: have actin binding site, atpase site.
