BIOL 3304 Lecture 4: Overnight Essay One
Document Summary
Before i begin this essay, i would like to first point out that each sensory ability that has an influence in animals; whether it is enhanced smell, night vision, echolocation or sending out electrical impulses. Arose from a mutation and was then carried out through natural selection. Meaning that each animal, although there are always possibilities of new mutations, is finely tuned and adapted for its environment. However, how is it possible to say that echolocation in bats would have a greater influence over its survival than if it were to have the night vision of owls instead. Contrary to popular belief, bats aren"t blind and can actually see during the day. Although they are to extremely sensitive to light. The bats are indeed able to see, however unlike other flying counter parts like owls, it is not realistic to use their vision as a way to find food.
