Area of the home where work of the home is carried out: Work zone may be outside the house. Rooms that are used exclusively by the household members for private activities. Areas of the home where non-family members are allowed. Zone guidelines: 3 rules of a good floor plan. Circulation without crossing the middle of the third zone. Traffic patterns that cut across rooms are not good. Zoning and circulation go together in home design. Indicator of efficiency for a single worker: too big is inefficient, too small may have insufficient counter space and storage. Recent design trends to accommodating more than one cook.
