Document Summary
Relationship between industry is and how scripts are done. Hobby/research: scenarios here"s a shot and another and another. Studio system: continuity script everything mapped out, dialogue, direction (retail) Story split into acts into beats into sequences into scenes into shots. Beat sheet: works down to the first 3. Master scene sheet: works down to first five. Act one (set up): meet the characters, get a feel of what is going on, who is involved where they"re at, etc. Act two (period of confrontation): confronting something dangerous, damaging, have to overcome it. Act three (resolution): whatever was being confronted in act two has been dealt with. Act 2 takes up the most time, where the interest is, story takes place in this act the most. Event, decision or discovery that moves the story forward does not have to be something that the main character encounters common to all conventional stories: labeled also a unit of pacing (like in music)
