The academy developed a hierarchy of genres: Genre paintings (everyday scenes of the lower classes) Hanging of artworks followed the hierarchy of genres. Influence of the academy gradually weakened after the french revolution in. Harks back to ancient greece and rome. Brothers vow allegiance to their father and to rome.
