ADPR 3520 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Comic Sans, Negative Space, Microsoft Office Shared Tools
Document Summary
& c. r. a. p principles of design: papyrus/comic sans. Papyrus: not taken seriously/respected used in clich ways, illegible at medium sizes. Overall: recognized by professionals as typefaces - not able to do any heavy lifting for legibility: drop shadows. Often used to try to show depth can be accomplished with more training. Makes things looks cheap + does not add to the professionalism: clipart. Cheesy; custom images are fine, but ones that look like they came out of word do not maintain professional look: cheesy gradients. Gradient = colors fading into each other: center align things. Center alignment is the weakest alignment: makes it difficult to read, especially when there is a lot of text/words. If you want to use meaningful do left or right alignment: adding outlines to text. Does not add contrast; it encroaches on the letter form and hinders legibility: decoration to fill space.
