Much higher than average income: predominantly male (70%), predominately white (89%), typically married (83%), well educated, most federal legislators are lawyers (over 50%) The executive (president, governors): three main functions: Source of ideas for the programs that legislative bodies consider. They"re the ones that are really going to set the agenda in communication with the legislative committees and build various different entities of that legislature. They"re the ones that"ll really push for particular/principle agenda items: e. g. , social security reform, healthcare reform, jobs, etc, the priorities of the executive party become of the legislative as well. Now, that"s not to say automatically whatever the executive figure thinks the legislative will consider. Strive to structure support for their programs: by talking and trying to committees to address a certain issue, they want to make sure whatever they committed to when running becomes true.
