Document Summary

Intro: thomas jefferson once said, the first object of my heart is my own country (apt 365) . At the founding of our great nation there was great division. The founding fathers were doing something that had never been done before. They were shaping a new nation and they were doing it without a monarchy. The founding fathers were trying to build a country based on democracy, and republican rule but they could not agree on what that looked like. On one hand you had the federalists who supported the constitution and on the other hand you see the anti-federalists who thought the constitution was not the solution. In this essay we will take a look at the federalist papers and the writings of the anti- Federalists to better understand how they saw the constitution and why they supported a certain form of government.
