HUN 4446 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Pulmonary Valve, Coronary Circulation, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnoea
Document Summary
Heart failure and hypertension hun 4446 spring 2016. Know the basic anatomical locations of various parts/components of the heart (i. e. , the 4 chambers and primary arteries and vein): vena cava. Carries blood from the body into the right atrium: upper chambers = atria or singular atrium. Right atrium (on the right side of heart) is where deoxygenated blood enters the heart from the body. Left atrium is where reoxygenated blood enters the heart from the lungs: bottom chambers = ventricles. Left ventricle is doing the most work. Pumps blood from left ventricle into the aorta and get it out into general circulation. If you have damage to areas of the left ventricle, there are big problems: valves. Tricuspid valve carries blood from the right atrium to the right ventricle. Pulmonary valve carries blood from the right ventricle to the pulmonary arteries. Mitral valve carries blood from the left atrium to the left ventricle.
