Eugenics- government determination of who can interbreed, who is sterilized. What is race: skin color, hair color, body size/shape, geography, religion, language, patterns of food use, style of dress, social groups, birth place, nationality, self-identification, social race. How people identify themselves or others identify them. Often actually refers to ethnic group: biological race. Different populations of the same species distinguished from each other by certain distinct hereditary traits. Used to group populations for comparative study. In forensic anthropology: what its social meaning and political ramifications, the identification of ancestry for the skeleton is important for the creation of a biological profile. Mostly for a criminal investigation (gill 1997: use of clinal variation, lowest probability of identification with accuracy, use race in forensics reports for society. Increase of melanin darker skin at higher elevations and equatorial regions. Non-metric traits: traits that are not measured, advantages. Easy once you know what you"re looking for. Sex does not need to be known: disadvantages.
