Deskilling- about the change in the american work force from: skilled workers (craftsmen, artisan), semi-skilled, and unskilled (cheap and replaceable). The significant number of people working move from skilled to unskilled. But this (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ges slo(cid:449)ly i(cid:374) the 1(cid:1013)th century. This was beneficial for the business owners, and consumers because it drives prices down. If it took 3 months to make a chair, through machines, it could be done within a week. As workers fought desperately to maintain control, but they lost. Panic of 1873- largest economic downturn in american history, railroads are overcapitalized, people are expanding too fast, rich people are getting richer. In the late 19th century, businesses turned to no one because they thought that everything would le(cid:448)el out a(cid:374)d get (cid:271)etter.
