Role of oxytocin - intense feeling of love right after birth, through interaction, playing, one on one settings, can be present with more than just babies, can be seen when dealing with pets too. Formation of attachment - useful during long period of time when they can"t fend for themselves. When caregiver returns, ay might look down and avoid them. Comes from a history of caregiving that is non responsive. Child won"t see caregiving as a source of comfort. When parent leaves ay has intense levels of being upset. Swat parent away when they give a toy. Comes from a history of the caregiver is inconsistent. Integrate both what the caregiver brings and what the child brings (ex: temperament) High irritable - fussy baby, sensitive to noise, more di cult. Low irritable - quiet, less sensitive to noise and new things, easy going. Higher levels of sociability, insecure vs secure attachment doesn"t matter, about the same.
