Hippocampus - memory, forming and sorting holistic experiences. Thalamus - sensory gateway, receives all sensory info except for smell, decides where it will send this info to middle lobe (look up where it sends to) Basil ganglia - movement & reward - nucleus accumbent - dopamine. Cerebellum - they work together to make smooth coordinated movements. Hypothalamus - regulating body function, blood pressure, body temp. Amygdala - emotion system, when damaged; problems processing their own emotions and other peoples emotions, easily activated to feared stimuli or threats. Frontal lobe - thought, planning, movement, higher order cognition (abstract thinking); Imagining a scenario working memory; listening to what"s being said, what to write down, how to relate this. The better it communicates to other parts of the brain, the better it is to juggle the information. The brain can reorganize structure bc it"s a network and it responds to damage or loses in the brain.
