Document Summary

People who are able to see, but unable to recognize faces. These people are able to use deductive reasoning based on specific facial characteristics to make an educated guess on who the individual is they are being presented. Some conditions are so severe they don"t even recognize their own family members. Experiencing absolutely nothing until the individual is able to sense stimuli. Already sensing something, how much difference in sensation does the stimuli have to increase/decrease before an individual is made aware of a change in stimuli. Sensory adaptation is about the physical firing of sensory receptors. In sensory adaptation, the physical firing of receptors slows due to constant stimuli. Habituation is when an individual is consciously attention in order to recognize outside stimuli. Dilemma: even though the level of stimulation remained constant, people were inconsistent in detecting the stimulus. Abandoned idea of a simple threshold for all people at all times.
