Ex. executive veto - final approval over congressional action but veto can be overridden by vote. These powers cannot be revoked without a constitutional amendment. Powers given to the executive by congress. Derived from president shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed. Congress has power to create laws regarding commerce. But, congress wrote a law creating this agency and put it under the jurisdiction of the executive branch. And, this executive branch agency has the power to regulate food and drug safety. With growth of government (particularly since the new deal) congress simply cannot execute and administer all its programs and laws. They set goals and rely on executive agencies to implement them. Powers implicitly granted in the constitution and claimed by the president.
