People began to adapt their identities with nationalism & european views. Now there was sense of division and difference. Relied on violent means if necessary to do so. In the early 1900s waged 2 rebellions against ottoman rule. Serbs were interested in rebelling against ottoman empires, had support fr. Russians saw themselves as brothers of the serbs. Serbs were slovak people & had common religion. Underground military groups wanted to rebel and reform austri.
