Puritans - the puritanical idea we have is stereotype. The puritans don"t consider the natives to be people because: Are not christian = they are not civilized. Believe their land is not under proper ownership and it is theirs for the taking. In english law if you believe a land has not been cultivated (ie. fenced in, farming) then it is up for grabs. Massachusetts was the first colony to begin slavery. King james was not a fan of tobacco. Jamestown, forgot to grow corn and other items for food. Too obsessed with the growth of tobacco get rich quick . Her head and a leg bone was found within bones of animals that were killed for food. Historians think she was a victim of cannibalism. Her bones exhibited knife scrapings as if they scraped her flesh off for food. Had such a small amount of food, were desperate and resulted in cannibalism. 1619 - roots of slavery and freedom.
