Focusing on: looking at consequences of the fall of the ottoman after world war one. How the ottoman empire dealt with challenges that were similar to china and japan, how the ottomans fit in with the theme of wwi, what happened after the empire fell and its significance. Expanded from anatolia (turkey) and originated in 1300, expanded under the sultans into the 17th century. Last time ottomans besieged vienna, austria was 1683 showed that the ottomans could still cause problems for europeans although it was unsuccessful. Lost control of hungary in 1699 , piece of evidence that suggests they were in decline. Recent scholars question the interpretation of that argument because they survived for another two hundred years, and the fact that they weren"t conquering new territory doesn"t mean they weren"t able to keep control of what they had. Faced problems that any large empire is likely to face.
