Latent speech - will answer you, but there is a time delay. Latency of response - don"t respond as quickly as neurotypical children to stimuli, commands, etc. Many students with disabilities have difficulty reading non-verbal communication. Articulation testing the quality of speech. Language sample (how does this person communicate; phonological awareness; morphology; etc. ) 13 to 14 school year - 1,047,000 students = second largest group receiving special education services. This is about 21% of all students receiving special education services and about 2. 5% of all school aged students. About 44% of all preschoolers with a disability have a communication disorder. About half of all these students who receive special education services have a primary disability (such as id or asd) that also have communication impairments.
