Person is informed of charges, reminded of rights (right to a speedy trial, right to legal representation, etc. ) The person becomes a (cid:862)defendant(cid:863: preliminary hearing/grand jury. Grand jury will decide if it is an indictment case, and a judge will decide in other cases: arraignment.
