Intervention: treatment (what are you going to do about it?) Referral: someone with standing, asks that you test. Ex: all students in a kindergarten class, one time only. Using: published protocol, therapists generated prompts, speech, lang or hearing. Outcome: pass - no follow up indicated fail - recommend for further testing. Need written consent to follow up if failed. When cultural, regional or gender drives a differences. When receiving, sending, processing or comprehending verbal, nonverbal or graphic signals make a difference that is functional within the communicative context. What triggers official consideration of a possible problem> #1 and foremost: to construct a communicative profile representing speech, receptive/expressive language, hearing behavior. To document: peaks & valleys/highs & lows in communicative behavior. ***low points mean nothing until highs are identified. #2: guide the design of an intervention, perhaps test the individual"s response to intervention. Dynamic assessment: what strategies alter performances within the test session.
