Koch"s postulates and types of cell death. Father of the germ theory and bacteriology. Observed that the growth of microorganisms in nutrient broths is due to. Pasteur - vaccination and immunity biogenesis and not spontaneous generation. Exposed boiled borths to air by a long tortuous tube that would not allow dust particles to pass. Nothing grew in the broths, therefore living organisms that grew in such broths came from the outside rather than spontaneously generated within the broth. Worked with chicken cholera (and anthrax) - a culture of the responsible bacteria had spoiled and failed to induce the disease in some chickens he was infected with the disease. Weakened bacteria (attenuation) had caused the chickens to become immune to the disease, even though they had only caused mild symptoms. His assistant was instructed to inoculate chickens while pasteur went on holiday - instead assistant went on holiday himself.
