Family structure: single parent families, unmarried pet owners living alone, older couples whose children have left home, childless couples, typical family parents + children. Owner has the legal right to ask veterinarian to euthanize animal. Irreversible disease has progressed to discomfort or distress. Owner wants a change something new. Owner can"t bear to see the animal suffer.
