Fem privileges men over women so men are more likely to benefit from the status quo and may fear losing ground if system changes. The gender structure is deeply intertwined with the economic structure. Heg masc and heg femininity: men and women are both raised with expectations that men"s needs should be prioritized. Limits experiences understood as legitimate for men. So culturally harder for men (raised to be dominant) to work to change the status quo that values them. Hegemonic masculinity is defined in part by its distance from the feminine.
