Document Summary

Guest lectures can be included in the exam, or interesting tangents!!!! In psych: enduring patterns of cognition, emotion behavior that negatively affect a person"s adaptation and lead to impairment in social or occupational. You don"t have a disorder if your social or job life is fine, usually. (not for psychopaths tho) Impulses are randomish behavior, compulses are habits of it. Gene mutation that kinda makes you seem adhd, then you die. We are not conscious all the time! That"s why drugs aren"t really always a choice. Self regulation definition: any effort to alter it"s own responses. If your air conditioning can do it, you can do it! We can use that scheme for every mental disorder in this course. Hint for exam : have the picture in your head to identify standards, Blood pressure -> heart attack, body temp fever blood glucose diabetes. If you don"t regulate at a societal level, you end up with inequalities and issues.
